Bihar School of Yoga Worthing was established in 1986 by Swami Kriyamurti. Yoga classes are held at
the Centre from Monday to Saturday. We are always here. Give us a call, come and meet us and see the place.

Our Yogic Heritage

Bihar School of Yoga was founded in Bihar, India, in 1963, by Paramahansa Satyananda, a disciple of
Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh.
BSY is sited on an ancient hillfort overlooking the river Ganges, and is called Ganga Darshan, Vision
of the Ganges. Swami Niranjan is the spiritual head of Ganga Darshan.
Swami Satyananda passed away in December 2009

Swami Atmananda Saraswati

Affectionately known as Chotte Swamiji of Bihar School of Yoga, Munger, India and Paramahamsa Alakh Bara disciple of Swami Satyananda Saraswati born in Hyderabad, Sindh, Pakistan, August 15th 1939 died in Cuttack, Orissa, India, October 17th, 2003

Swami Kriyamurti

Swami Kriyamurti trained in yoga while living 12 years with her guru, Swami Atmananda. She returned to England and opened Bihar School of Yoga Worthing in 1986, where she runs classes and workshops in yoga and meditation.

Swami Ramadevananda

Swami Ramadevananda Saraswati joined Swami Atmananda in Bihar School of Yoga Singapore, his native country, aged 27. After 12 years’ training in yoga and meditation in Northern Ireland, Singapore and India, he settled in England in 1992.

Daniela Gugg

Daniela started practicing yoga in 2002 and graduated from the Yoga Campus teacher training in 2014. She continues to study and takes inspiration from teachers like Doug Keller, Susanne Lahusen, Pete Blackaby, and Raphan Kebe.

Kristyna Bretschneiderova

Kristyna joined us in 2012. She has been training with us and is a BSY registered yoga teacher since 2016. She also loves gymnastics and is a member of the British Gymnastics Association.

Swami Ramadevananda

Swami Ramadevananda Saraswati joined Swami Atmananda in Bihar School of Yoga Singapore, his
native country, aged 27. After 12 years’ training in yoga and meditation in Northern Ireland,
Singapore and India, he settled in England in 1992.

Ramdev subsequently trained with the European College of Bowen Studies and the London School of Sports Massage.

He is a member of the Bowen Therapy Professional Association and the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council, and is a Bowen Practitioner and Sports Massage Therapist, in addition to his work as yoga teacher. Ramdev is a qualified Feldenkrais practitioner. He trained with the Feldenkrais International Training Centre.

Swami Kriyamurti

Swami Kriyamurti trained in yoga while living 12 years with her guru, Swami Atmananda. She
returned to England and opened Bihar School of Yoga Worthing in 1986, where she runs classes and
workshops in yoga and meditation.

A qualified practitioner of the Buteyko Breathing Method

Kriya is also a qualified practitioner of the Buteyko Breathing Method, and is affiliated to the Buteyko Breathing Clinic Worldwide. This is a technique of improving health and preventing chronic diseases, by breathing very gently like the hatha yoga masters.

DANIELA GUGG

Daniela started practicing yoga in 2002 and graduated from the Yoga Campus teacher training in 2014. She continues to study and takes inspiration from teachers like Doug Keller, Susanne Lahusen, Pete Blackaby, and Raphan Kebe. She is interested in the evolution of modern yoga and brings into her teaching her experience of other somatic practices, dance and functional movement as well as weight training.

KRISTYNA BRETSCHNEIDEROVA

Kristyna joined us in 2012. She has been training with us and is a BSY registered yoga teacher since 2016. She also loves gymnastics and is a member of the British Gymnastics Association.
